In this unique and sophisticated body of work, Cornelia Tipuamantumirri depicts traditional Jilamara, or designs, as well as the coastline and tidal movements that surrounds her country of Pirlangimipi on Melville Island, Northern Territory.
The patterns in her luminous paintings emulate the waves breaking on the coastline, as they capture sunlight glistening on the water’s surface.
Cornelia Tipuamantumirri, in her relatively short artistic career, has had her work collected by important institutions and collections including the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney and The Aboriginal Art Museum in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
