Paula Paul is one of seven ‘sisters’ including Sally Gabori, Dawn Naranatjil, May Moodoonuthi, Netta Loogatha, Ethel Thomas and Amy Loogatha who literally burst onto the art world with their enchanting work in 2005.
This survey exhibition will show the diversity and beauty of her art, inspired by the Kaiadilt family of Bentinck Island through a hand-picked selection of her paintings that span across her short but important artistic career.
Her evocative and beautifully coloured artwork describe the flat reefs and oysters in and around her country on Bentinck Island, and she has been collected by the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Perth and Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane.
Now retired, as Paula Paul embarks on a new phase in her life, we are privileged to have been asked by her family to present this survey exhibition – a must-see for all art lovers and collectors.
