It is with the deepest heart-felt sadness, but also overwhelming joy, that we present a special tribute exhibition, Woman of Fire by Barrupu Yunupingu, sister of Gulumbu Yunupingu and Nyapanyapa Yunupingu.
Ms. Yunupingu was on a remarkable journey after her first solo exhibition at Alcaston Gallery in early 2012. Many of our clients will recall her strong personality and fearless art-making on the theme of fire. The next exhibition was in the making when the artist passed away suddenly at her home in Yirrkala, Northern Territory.
Her family now wish this lasting legacy of the Woman of Fire to be remembered in this rare and deeply significant exhibition, where the final bark paintings and Larrakitj by the late Yolngu artist Barrupu Yunupingu will light up the walls of Alcaston Gallery in her last solo exhibition, Woman of Fire – A Tribute.
