Alcaston Gallery presents an exclusively online exhibition of new paintings by Melbourne-based artist, Rupert Betheras.
On the concept for his latest body of work, Betheras explains: “Life’s trials and tribulations are played out in a tangled network of memory, observation, relationships, identity and social law; cycles, chance events, and the nature paradigm.” In Codes of Chaos the artist explores the intimate workings of these phenomenon through his intuitive and energetic paintings on linen.
Codes of Chaos follows Rupert Betheras’ exhibition Marking Tracks held earlier this year at Deakin University Art Gallery, Victoria. Marking Tracks featured a retrospective body of work that focused on the development of colour, place and an innate desire to capture the passion and energy of experience through painting.
Rupert Betheras has dedicated the exhibition Codes of Chaos to the spirit of his friend and mentor, David Larwill.
