The New Wave of Chinese Oil Paintings

Leon Yiu, th eart director of Art House Gallery, has been in the art business since 1988. Having represented mainland Chinese artists in both oil and Chinese ink/colour, he has represented countless artists striving to incorporate Western elements into Chinese Art. Now , he has come up with novel idea of turning the tables around i.e. turn Chinese paintings into Western medium! A dabbler of painting himself, he borrows freely from an encyclopedia of Mainland Chinese ink/colour paintings and experiments with oil/acrylic on canvas. He calls this line of works “The New Wave of Chinese Oil Paintings” and plans to market it in Malaysia and USA. As opposed to conventional gallery/artists relationships where the name rings a bell and prices keep appreciating, Leon does not care to be “famous” nor does he ever wish to “climb the ladder of success”. All he wishes is to introduce and popularize this new genre of original hand-painting at more than affordable prices so everybody can afford to have nice original paintings in their homes and settings.
