The Young Collectors Auction
by Ayyam Gallery Dubai (Al Quoz)
Location: Ayyam Art Center
Artist(s): GROUP SHOW
Date: 20 May - 27 May 2014

Ayyam Gallery Dubai presents the twentieth edition of The Young Collectors Auction, along with a special section dedicated to a few rare modern masterpieces, to be held at its Al Quoz location in Dubai on 27 May 2014.

This forthcoming auction presents an opportunity for both experienced and aspiring collectors to bid on an array of carefully selected works from established and emerging artists of the region, including painting, photography, limited-edition prints, sculpture and installation.

The May auction brings forth a treasure-trove of works by influential Syrian painters including modernists Nasser Chaura, Fateh Moudarres, Louay Kayyali, and Omar Hamdi, and contemporary figures Asaad Arabi, Moustafa Fathi, Abdullah Murad, Ahmad Moualla, and Safwan Dahoul. This staggering lineup of seminal painters provides seasoned buyers with an exclusive opportunity to expand their collections with rare works that chart the region’s development in art. Highlights from a subsequent generation of contemporary artists will reflect today’s trends in Middle Eastern art, notably through a robust selection of works by Syrian artists Khaled Takreti, Ammar Al Beik, Abdul Karim Majdal Al-Beik, Kais Salman, Mouteea Murad, and Tammam Azzam.

Boats, a painting by Louay Kayyali, is one of many exceptional historical pieces to be featured and belongs to a seminal period of the modern artist’s oeuvre, reflecting an aesthetic grandness that likened his ordinary subjects to the elevated status of religious icons. From Safwan Dahoul, a stunning 1994 mixed media triptych displays the early experiments in space and usage of colour as an emotive signifier that were crucial to the development of his acclaimed Dream series.
