Aicon Gallery London is pleased to present the first European solo show of works by Amna Ilyas.

Within Amna's works there is a constant push and pull between transparency, legibility and illegibility that suggests that meaning itself is always escaping being pinned down. This layering of meaning seems to mirror the layering of contemporary Pakistani society for Ilyas: "I found myself meditating on the layers, with the beauty and shiny light of the superficial upper, incurring and supported by the dark underbelly of society".
