PHAN Cam Thuong biography | artworks | events

The gentle yet dynamic paintings of Phan Cam Thuong (b. 1957) share those qualities with the man. Thuong’s strikingly geometric compositions are beautifully simple. His scholarly mediums: Chinese ink and natural mineral paints on handmade Vietnamese paper or silk, reflect his upbringing and his own scholastic achievements. Thuong is a professor of art history at the Hanoi College of Fine Arts and has authored four books about the art history of his country. His knowledge of Vietnam’s artistic and cultural traditions inspires Thuong to paint Vietnamese religious and village life as it has existed for centuries.

Education: Hanoi College of Fine Arts, History and Theory of Art
Exhibited in: England, Hong Kong, Israel, Singapore, Thailand, United States, Vietnam
