Nguyen Bach Dan (b. 1970) spent several months at the Vermont Studio Center in 1999, her first time to visit and paint in the United States. The work which she created in Vermont is a lovely blend of East and West: paintings of the deep forests of the North made with traditional Chinese ink, and all the nuances of black and gray which this ink can reveal. The serenity of Bach Dan¹s romantic paintings displays the quiet confidence of this young artist.
