Donovan pursued Fine Arts at the ISI - Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta, 1988

He then worked in advertising agencies and publishing firms from 2001 till 2005.

He received the award for the best painting Arts in 2007 in Batam and actively participated in various exhibitions in Batam from 2003 till 2007.

His recent solo exhibition titled "Empathy in Art" was held in Jakarta in January 2008 and he will hold exhibition funded by UBS Bank in March 2008 in Jakarta.
