Award winning UK artist Matt Golden will show new works from his two months at the Vision Culture Art Residency at Shalini Ganendra Fine Art, where he explored Malaysian urban culture and landscapes, vernacular art practise and contemporary translations. His starting point is an earlier iconic photographic work created after a period spent in Japan in 2008, and he will develop work using local materials and based on his experiencs during the residency.
Golden is the winner of the prestigious Arts Foundation Yoma Sasburg Award for Sculpture (2011) and the recipient of the acclaimed Vordemberge-Gildewart Foundation scholarship (2006). Since receiving his MA in sculpture from the Royal College of Art in London in 2005, Golden’s exceptional career took him to artist residencies at the Kyoto Zokei University in Japan (2011), Insel Hombroich, Germany (2007) and SGFA’s Vision Culture Residency, Malaysia (2012).
