Lim's paintings examines the relation between existence, religion and politics. Arcane Fantasies For The Flesh and The Sublime draws heavily from iconography, myths, popular culture and the human subsistence as hunter gatherers in the contemporary world. Celebrating personal memories, experiences and observations, Lim translates surreal imagery within shapes and icons of 'trophies' as a commentary on the human desire. Painting to Lim is a manifestation of pain, happiness and all that is in between. It might provide no answer nor revelation, yet it can still be a desirable object. It is the exorcism of a truth seeking exercise, a visual spew documenting the ridiculous, illusory and elusive nature of sublimity.
