Born in 1976, Bembol Dela Cruz has been publicly exhibiting his works since 2000 and completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (major in Painting) from the University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts in 2002. He held his first solo exhibition, entitled The History of Things, four years later in 2006. Since then, he has held annual one-man shows of his work in the Philippines and joined group shows in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

In 2011, Dela Cruz was named as one of the three recipients of the Philippine’s 8th Ateneo Art Awards, themed Anatomy of Autonomy, and consequently completed this year, three artist residencies and exhibition grants at the Liverpool Hope University and Cornerstone Gallery in the United Kingdom, the Art OMI International Artists Residency in Ghent, New York and the Berkshire Residency Exchange in West Massachusetts, USA.
