Janenne Eaton is a Melbourne based artist. Her practice incorporates painting, photography, installation and video. She has held over 30 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions nationally and internationally, including at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra, the Art Gallery of NSW, the National Gallery of Victoria and the National Gallery of Australia. Janenne’s works have been collected by many major institutions including the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, the National Gallery of Victoria, Heide Museum of Modern Art, National Portrait Gallery, Canberra.
Working in the field of archaeology has been influential in the direction Janenne’s work has taken in recent years. Her artistic research has centred on the movements of peoples across time and space, and the historical ‘traces’ that record strategies towards social, cultural and material adaptation. Recent works explore the impact of the ICT revolution, its generation of a new ‘digital ecology’ and its impact on our apprehension of time and space.
