Date: 8 Dec 2012 - 19 Jan 2013
Yuichi Hirako is a Japanese artist interested in exploring the human dynamics with nature through concerns of primitivism, and cultural comparatives of natural terrains and isolated plants. “The Wooden Clapper” grounds this exhibition with that very object characterized by simplicity of form, function and sound. The artist hopes to turn back the basic human connections to nature. In “The Wooden Clapper,” Yuichi presents new paintings and sculptures that depart from his earlier illustrations of nature. These works portray anthromorphic plants and plant-like humans set in a whimsical setting of what can be such a dark and fantastical adventure.
