Ahmed Badry’s new object is an oversized large Swiss triple socket (H 165 x W 68 x L 443 cm) with corresponding cable made of cardboard. Two long nails stuck in the first box and project into the air like antennae.
The object is fascinating dangerous and there is a real story behind. While the two gallery owners Franz and Heidi Leupi were out for business, artist Ahmend Badry realized that there was no adapter for the Swiss plug to connect his computer with the Egypt plug. So Badry searched for a temporary solution as he urgently needed electricity for his computer to start his work. What he did? He put two nails in one end of the plug and connected his computer plug with the two nails. It was a provisionary solution, it was dangerous but it worked- temporary.
