Artist(s): Suwit MAPRAJUAB
Date: 2 Jun - 3 Jul 2011

For his first solo exhibition, Suwit Maprajuab (an artist born in Isan, far away from the sea) presents a collection of sculptures made from discarded oil tanks and depicting coastal marine life: crabs, prawns, shrimps, mussels, fish and their like.

Suwit is inspired (and worried) by the changes the mankind inflicts upon its environment, the issues of pollution, global warming and climate variance.

He is trying to imagine how humble marine creatures can adapt to relentless challenges dictated by the unpredictable human inventiveness.
Since the fish cannot speak for itself, it must wait for an artist to convey its message.

Our gallery welcomes you to join in a contemplation of what the fish would have to say about the thoughtless men and women affecting the world, from a tiny coastal animal all the way up to an entire planet.

Opening Reception June 2, 2011 at 6 - 8 pm.
