Soul Sciences, an exhibition of new works by two emerging voices in Thai contemporary art: Prasert Yodkeaw and Manit Kantasak. In presenting these two artists together, the co-curators hope audiences will appreciate the nearly scientific processes involved in both Manit’s meticulous dissections of tree parts presented as an installation of ‘specimen jars’; and Prasert’s presentation of two and three-dimensional ‘sketches’ of mythical inventions. Manit asks audiences to consider our inextricable relationship with nature – and to look beyond the superficial, for deeper understanding and ultimately, wisdom. Prasert, asks his audience to consider questions of culture and technology, the past, present and future, and to reflect upon the role of fantasy and dreams, imagination and spirituality.
