Road Home
by Art Republic
Location: Art Republic
Artist(s): Susu PIANCHUPATTANA
Date: 24 Feb - 2 Apr 2011

“The road home forgets you have already passed by, and the hope, love and pain left along the way that you tell yourself will be there to guide you, are nowhere to be found.”

This is the focus of my new work. I combine my experiences with the abstract, using gestures and different processes to convey emotional and spiritual content. It is a continuation of my personal journey as a painter.

Born and raised in the city of Bangkok, Thailand, Susu Pianchupattana has spent the past seven years in New York and Italy. Her work is a profound response to nature combining experience with the abstract using gesture and process to convey emotional and spiritual content.

Educated at Thammasat University, Susu distinguished herself as a senior art director for Y&R and Leo Burnett, two internationally recognized advertising agencies. Moving to NYC in 2002 to formally study painting at the New York Studio School (Certificate, 2005 and MFA, 2007).

Numerous awards include the Hohenberg Travel Grant  (Italy, 2006), Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (fellowship,2007), Masur Museum of Art’s 35th Annual Juried Competition (best painting).

In 2008, she was granted an 01 visa on the merit of her accomplishments and had her first solo show at Robert Steele Gallery in Chelsea. Susu has exhibited at museums and galleries throughout the US and Thailand.
The “Road Home” will be her first solo exhibition in Thailand.
