Water, Earth and Air
by Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation
Location: Sherman Contemporary Art Foun
Artist(s): Charwei TSAI
Date: 23 Oct - 12 Dec 2009

Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation in partnership with Queensland Art Gallery presents the first Sydney exhibition of artist Charwei Tsai.

The artist will present an intimate series of installations that explores the cyclical relationship between nature, art, politics, religion, culture, symbolism and ethics

Charwei Tsai was born in Taiwan (1980) and presently lives and works between Paris, New York and Taipei. In addition to her art practice, Tsai publishes Lovely Daze, a contemporary art periodical released biannually.

Tsai’s works engage with the transient nature of our natural and man-made environment and, in particular, seek to ‘inspire moments of contemplation on the ephemeral qualities of our environment and history.’

This exhibition is presented in partnership with Queensland Art Gallery. Charwei Tsai will be presenting work in ‘The 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art’ (APT6) from 5 December 2009 to 5 April 2010.

The exhibition is curated by Charwei Tsai and Suhanya Raffel, Curatorial Manager, Asian and Pacific Art, Queensland Art Gallery
