For the first time in Germany, the Martin-Gropius-Bau will present more than 220 of Ai Weiwei’s photographs that were taken during his stay in New York from 1983 to 1993. Over 100,000 pictures were taken during this time.
The first presentation in Beijing was curated by Ai Weiwei, who was assisted by Rong Rong and the artist inri – the show was then shown unchanged at its second location in New York. The Martin Gropius-Bau will also apply Ai Weiwei’s exhibition presentation.
