Art 64 Gallery in Guangzhou will have an exhibition of the oil paintings of Chaung Ai-Wai the Overseas Canadian Female Oil Painter from China.

Chaung Ai-Wai was born in Macao. In the 1950’s and 1960’s she graduated and taught at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. She was a reporter and editor for the Guangdong Pictorial. Subsequently, she lived worked and created oil paintings in Hong Kong and Taiwan for twenty years. She had more then ten oil painting shows and exhibitions during this time. In 1994 she moved to Canada and became a professional oil painter.

Chaung Ai-Wai is a member of the Oil Painters of America and the California Artists Club. She specializes in oil paintings of landscapes, still lives and portraits. She is an intelligent and perceptive painter. Her work is realistic with a formal Chinese background. Her color palette is very strong and bright and brings energy to her oil paintings. She also chooses colors that are soft and sweet. Her oil paintings show her style and personality. Her drawing technique is a language that lets you understand her feelings and emotions.

Chaung Ai-Wai’s landscapes depict her life in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Canada. Her memories of these places create the backgrounds for her oil paintings. Her still lives are very popular in the Taiwan art market. Most of these beautiful oil paintings sell out every time they are exhibited.

Her portraits are realistic and life-like. She painted portraits of many highly respected people in Taiwan including Mr. Hsiegh Dong-Min the former President of Taiwan. Mr. Hsiegh said, “Her oil painting is my favorite portrait”. She was also invited to paint a portrait of Mr. Ti-Wu Wang the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lianhepao and Shijie Daily. Mr. and Mrs. Yung-Ching Wang commissioned a portrait. He was the CEO of Vedan Group. Robert Han and his wife also had an expressive painting made.. He was the President of the OEC Group. Dr. Fong-Gu Peng and his wife each had paintings done.. He was the Chief of Staff of the Taipei General Hospital.
