Submerged
by Doosan Gallery New York
Location: Doosan Gallery New York
Artist(s): Eunsu KANG
Date: 8 Sep - 8 Oct 2011

Doosan Gallery is pleased to announce SUBMERGED, the solo exhibition of Eunsu Kang whose interactive media installations create a surreal landscape of fluid relations. Using sound and video projections that are sensitive to viewers’ every movement, Kang invites viewers to a continuum of action and response.

This exhibition features two of the artist’s latest works: Membranes (Invisible Walls) and Shin’m 2.0. Upon entry, the living fields of Membranes subsume viewers into an environment that is established by perpetual acts of generation and dissipation. A few steps away, viewers encounter Shin’m 2.0. The circular masses of Shin’m 2.0, constantly repositioning themselves in reaction to viewers’ gestures, are weightless and free-floating. Immersed within the space that creates an illusion of underwater experience, viewers become a part of Kang’s works, challenging and expanding the relationship one is able to have with others.

This exhibition is accompanied by a dance performance of Kang’s long-time collaborator Diana Garcia-Snyder. The performance will take place on the night of the opening reception. All viewers are cordially invited.
