On the back of the current financial crisis, Vasan Sitthiket presents a series of paintings and a video piece related to capitalism and the financial trouble the world finds itself in. The artist explores some reasons behind the crisis and points fingers – as he is well known for.
Vasan Sitthiket is 52 years old and one of Thailand’s most internationally recognized artists. He is well known as a visual artist, but also as a writer and political activist. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Thailand and abroad. Including the Venice Biennale in 2003. He is also likely the only Thai artist whose work has been collected by MoMA in New York.
Curator for the exhibition is Steven Pettifor, the author of the book Flavours – Thai Contemporary Art.
