LV Yanjun received no formal education and could neither speak nor write. However, with his exceptional positive attitude in life, he persevered and taught himself the art of painting . this admirable artist is critical of the loss of political discourse in modern Chinese society.

In Daughters of Dragons, LV Yanjun creates a contrast between China's current material obsession with what he views as the more admirable ideals of the Chinese individual of the past.

The woman that LV Yanjun paints are without any flaws in their appearance; sensual, young, slim with slight features and perfect lips. What catches any viewer is the striking appeal of these perfect oriental features, almost bordering on too perfect with its airbrush-like quality. Contained in these images of these woman is LV Yanjun attempt to articulate the desire of the modern Chinese for the superficial and their want to display these very superficial accumulation. He further emphasises this through painting these woman in the full uniform of the Cultural Revolution.

It is not uncommon to hear the Chinese use the term 'Descendants of the Dragon' as a sign of ethnic identity. The dragon, which is the most auspicious animal of the Chinese zodiac, is a symbol of power and strength. With Daughters of Dragons, LV Yanjun uses this image to hint at what he believes is a the regression in Chinese society. He creates a contrast between China's current material obsession with the more admirable ideals of the Chinese individual of the past.
