Alexander Ochs Galleries Berlin presents the second solo show of Berlin-based artist Sven Drühl. Drühl´s artistic work practice is determined by his intense examination of landscape and architecture motifs in art history as well as contemporary art. For many years he has been fascinated of the japanese art of Shin-hanga, a movement from the 1910s and 20s, that reanimated the typical Japanese art form of color woodcut. He rearranges selected fragments of these Shin-hangas, combines, assembles, deconstructs and makes new collages. Despite this conceptual and programmatic approach, the artist succeeds in transforming the original works into his personal and very distinctive style. The exhibition will juxtapose a selection of these works alongside original Shin-Hanga artworks.
