On the occasion of Art Basel Hong Kong, Galerie Urs Meile Beijing-Lucerne will be presenting a selection of recent works by their represented artists. Ai Weiwei will present Rebar (2008-2012, steel reinforcing bars, different sizes) a series of works connected with the artist’s investigation of the Sichuan earthquake in 2008.

Wang Xingwei’s large-scale retrospective “Wang Xingwei“ is currently hosted by Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) in Beijing (May 19 – August 18, 2013) with about 80 paintings from the early 1990s until today. At our booth in Hong Kong, new paintings by the artist will be on show.

Our presentation will include new paintings and designed furniture by Shao Fan, who blends in his works East and West with the contemporary and the traditional.

Furthermore Galerie Urs Meile will show new works by the emerging artists Hu Qingyan, Julia Steiner, Yan Xing and a selection of paintings by Christian Schoeler, created specifically for the occasion of Art Basel Hong Kong. Young chinese artist Li Gang presents Beads No. 2 (2012-2013, 625 pcs., ø 1 - ø 34 cm): a large – scale installation of more than six hundred wooden spheres shaped from the forking branches of a dead Yunnanese tree. The content and form of this work reflect human existence. Every person that we meet has an impact on our lives and may alter them.

During Art Basel Hong Kong, Galerie Urs Meile is presenting Cheng Ran’s comprehensive solo exhibition “The Last Generation“ in their gallery spaces in Beijing. The exhibition centers on an original novel written by the artist, called Circadian Rhythm and features a new body of works ranging from different media, such as literature, photography, video and installation.
