The Ke Luo Fu Project: Films + Installations
The Ke Luo Fu Project inhabits and expands border region between perceived realities, utopian reveries and contestedly fabricated virtual realms. Shanghai: an urban, mega-scenario. Continuously evolving fragments of non-linked narratives. Protagonists attired in conceptual extensions to their feeling bodies.

The painted, the sculpted, the photographed and filmed, the documented, and the digitally generated meld in an array of confusion. Random coincidence is excluded. Allusions are made to violence exposed, to spiritual cynicism, sexual errancy and to deep erotic tenderness. Allusions that embrace existential confrontation and peer into abysses of subjugation and release.

Rolf A. Kluenters intense staging is imbued with philosophical resignation and with swelling, global saturation.

Inevitably, evolution leads us to deep submersion into virtual depths; and ultimately to profound amphibious genetic mutation.

Simon Kirby, Shanghai, Summer 2008

Rolf A. Kluenter
Kluenter pursues the development of social, cultural and spiritual networks within the present extreme of civilization-appropriation in urban areas with its rapidly developing schemes that excessively and radically serialize the depth of unrestrained proliferation of over-construction.

In films, paintings, performances and objects that enrich his installations, he looks into the elementally inborn, archaic features and memories, the collectively inherited pattern of thought and images, which continue to surface in the ongoing process of cultural de-construction and uprooting world wide.

After his study at the Duesseldorf State Academy of Fine Arts, in 1980, Kluenter transfers a scholarship for New York to Nepal where he spent the following19 years. After his years in Kathmandu drawn to Shanghai, he lived and worked in this metropolis with its capitalistically characterized dynamics for 10 years.

1956 born in Buervenich, Germany, he currently lives and works in China. He maintains ateliers in Shanghai, Kathmandu and the Eifel
