Through the years, Andres Barrioquinto’s art has gradually matured from his emotionally masticated rendition of figures into an experimental synergy of geometric patterns and eerie, open-mouthed apparitions. From his earlier concepts of depicting repetitive hatred and inner putrefaction, he now transcends into a heightened sense of philosophical reasoning and ponderings on human existence and purpose. His present works simultaneously bleed into the orchestration of monochromatic realism and cubistic delineations. Barrioquinto was a recipient of CCP’s Thirteen Artists Award and is also a two time UST Benavides awardee (1999 and 2000).
