Tezukayama Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition called “Focus”, by Asako Otsuka, Nami Kanarei and Minami Shinohara. We exhibit mainly solo exhibitions and also occasionally present special group exhibitions.
In 2011 we presented “Shasin?”, a group show of four young artists who were using photographs as their medium but with different concepts and styles. In the exhibition we wanted the public to think about the connection between photographic-art and fine art.
This time, our gallery chose three artists, each with varied and contrasting works, all of the artists are women. Why? In Japan, female artists are becoming more and more involved in the art community and also greater numbers of female artists are studying in art universities. Therefore, we would like to focus simply on women's expression.
