Katsura Funakoshi, the representative sculptor in Japan, announces new prints made of mezzotint. He has challenged to prints in various ways for 20 years, and this time his first mezzotint works created silent, deeper, stronger and shocking figure in pitch darkness. To Funakoshi, mezzotint process, carving a copperplate, gives same feeling of a wood carving, which makes him more familiar.
His new works show a starting point of all his art works, 'statue of the Buddha', and a sign of Funakoshi's new development. In this exhibition, 20 art works will be introduced, focusing 7 new works.
