○ Re ↑ Birth ○
by YOD Gallery
Location: Yod Gallery
Artist(s): Masashi HATTORI
Date: 8 Jul - 6 Aug 2011

YOD Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition, "○ Re ↑ Birth ○", by Masashi Hattori (Born in 1977) will be held from 8th July to 6th August 2011.

Assimilating daily-used materials and ready-made products, Masashi Hattori executes various styles of sculpture with the motif of "Hito (human, person or people)". He tries show how people should essentially behave in human communications in the symbolised human forms.

He entirely uses electrical appliances and parts in his recent representation as one of his identity that derives from his childhood origin as small electrical appliance shop in the town. Suggesting communications or connections between people, electric wires show vectors of human's numbers and thoughts as well as of energy to start electrics. He thinks that all essence of creation is specifically unseen and hidden in things that we don't usually aware and appeals us the importance to read things behind all things.

The relationship between human and electric devices had been rapidly bound up by the progress of developed technology, but the society, which becomes used to depend on the convenience of electrical appliances, faced with the problem in a shortage of electric power after Fukushima. He emphasises on common sense of and disagreement over healthy relations between people and machines including electric appliances as well as between human communications in this exhibition.
