There are words like “gifted natural talent”. Paintings are the thoughts of the artist put down on the surface, for thoughts we firstly have words but for a painter firstly there seems to be the personal handling of the brush. When a child participating in a concert, it can leave an overwhelming impression but it can also be an experience that is the same as after hearing a famous virtuoso playing, seemingly that nothing is left behind. It doesn’t seem to be just a matter of technique, but the difference in perception comes in according to the way the emotions are personally expressed. However taking this for granted, in the paintings of Ulala Imai there is a sense of casual, natural flow not seen before , a feeling that all is painted seamlessly. Her works are completely different from the current soft culture boom but yet again the overflow of natural talent bearing a universal, contemporary sense that places it into the world of fine art. This present day painter fits perfectly into our lives.
