Face from a Distance
by Kodama Gallery Kyoto
Location: Kodama Gallery Kyoto
Artist(s): Masahiro SEKIGUCHI
Date: 29 Mar - 26 Apr 2014

Kodama Gallery Kyoto is delighted to announce a solo exhibition by Masahiro Sekiguchi. Sekiguchi has worked on painting composed by film-shaped dried oil. As drying paints on a large silicon board, a piece of paints like a think cotton can be peeled off from a board. Thus, his painting using split or shredded film of paints can get unique texture.

In this exhibition, rather than existing method and 'film-shape paints,' Sekuguchi uses a definition of 'flatness.' With the title 'Face from a Distance,' the exhibition aims for specifying flatness of image more visually. Sekoiguchi will announce new series made of injecting a film of paints between glass and base panel on a frame. There is lucid contrast of deep wrinkles formed by color side on glass and surplus paints inside.
