Kodama Gallery Kyoto is pleased to announce the new solo exhibition of Gaetan Kubo from 11 May. Kubo has held the solo exhibition last year, 'Madness, Civilisation and I'. Based on Michel Foucault's words about thought or technique, he showed contrast structure between three existences, 'madness' mostly called as minority, 'civilisation', admitted from the world, and oneself located between them, to warn our complacency.
With 'Transmission series', 'Occult' was inspired by counterpart with legend, rumor for stories of the public, or delusion, which is contrary to 'civilisation'. He asked about feeling anxious when hearing Poltergeist, Ectoplasm, or shadow government, which can perturb the people.
What Kubo shows in this time is the complex installation under the theme of 'Hysterical complex', to heal the artist himself who seems to feel uneasiness. Starting from 'Transmission' series, he shows a whole process of psychotherapy through his art works as using all kinds of methods and ideas, such as Freud's psychoanalysis, Jung's analytical psychology, or even mediumistic studies.
