Kamin LERTCHAIPRASERT biography | artworks | events

Kamin Lertchaiprasert was born in Lopburi, Thailand in 1964. From 1978 to 1981 he attended the College of Fine Arts, Bangkok, and then attended Silpakorn University where he graduated with a B.F.A. in Printmaking in 1987. From 1991-2009 he had 20 solo exhibitions in Bangkok. He has also had solo shows in Osaka (2002), Kuala Lumpur (2004) and Tokyo (2005 & 2009). He represented Thailand at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, and participated in the Busan Biennale in 2008.

Changed name from ''Muangnging Sae Lao" to "Kamin Lertchaiprasert".

Interested in Photographs and Prints. Selected as "Outstanding Young Artist of the Year" by the Silpakorn University Art Gallery | Moved to New York City, U.S.A. | Worked at Photo Shop.

Worked as a busboy.

Attended the Art Student League of New York
1989 – 1992
Worked as a printer for other artists | Broken heart.

Interested in eastern philosophy | Desired to give up being an artist | First time came back to Thailand | Became a monk.

Second time came back to Thailand.

Third Time came back to Thailand | Interested in Childrens’ Art | Desired to move back from New York to Bangkok, Thailand for good.

"The Land Project" project of artist commune initiated with Rirkri Tiravanija, Chiang Mai, Thailand

Had a son named "Thiew"

Founded Umong Sippadhamma, Chiang Mai Thailand
2003
Visited Venice, Italy | Visited Lillehammer, Norway
2004
Umong Sippadhamma and "The Land Project" became “The Land Foundation" with co-founders Rirkrit Tiravanija and Uthit Atimana.
