Cheong Kah Kit (b. 1976) makes use of the immediacy of drawing as a means of exploration. More recently, he ventured into video making and investigations of the possibilities of the moving image. Cheong graduated with a BFA from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Melbourne in 2002 and in 2008, through the Singapore National Arts Council’s Overseas Arts Bursary, obtained his Masters in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts, Umeå University, Sweden. An active arts practitioner and educator, Cheong has participated in exhibitions both locally and internationally, most recently, the 25th Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival, Kassel, Germany (2008) and Labyrinth, Botkyrka Konsthall, Stockholm, Sweden (2007), as well as participated and co-organised exhibitions like WhistleBristle at Studio 106 and Another Tan and Cheong Artshow at The Substation, Singapore (both in 2004).
