Sonny Liew is a Eisner‐nominated comic artist and illustrator whose work include titles for
DC Vertigo, Marvel, SLG and Disney, along with the Xeric‐awarded Malinky Robot.

Ignite Seminar, Singapore, 2009
Will give a talk about comics at the Ignite Seminar, organised by the Media Development
Authority (MDA), Hinds.
Salon du Livre, Paris, 2009
Attended the week‐long (13‐18 March 2009) book fair in Paris which saw an estimated
200,000 unqiue attendees, as part of a tour of France, Belgium and Switzerland to promote
the new French edition of “Malinky Robot” published by BAO. Other stopovers included the
FestiLivre d’Ugine in Albertville, Festival BD in Grenoble and signings at BD Fugue in Annecy,
Brusels Galerie Libairie in Brussels and several FNAC bookstores across France.
Expenses for the trip were sponsored by the publisher BAO.
Singapore Toys and Comics Convention, Singapore, 2008
Attended and helped organise the Artist Alley Booths at the inaugural Singapore Toys and
Comics Convention held at the Sun Tec Convention Hall. The event saw an estimated 40,000
unique visitors and generated some USD$500,000 in sales.
Liquid City Book Launch, Kinokuniya, Singapore/Malaysia, 2008
Worked with Kinokuniya to hold book launches for the “Liquid City” comics anthology in
Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Promotional efforts led to the book getting onto Kinokuniya’s
best sellers list for the month of November, the second‐best selling comic for that month.
Liquid City, Image Comics, 2008
Worked as editor for Liquid City, gathering artist from the region and beyond, including
artists and writers from Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines for a comics anthology
published by leading American publisher Image Comics. Contributors included well
established names like Lat, Gerry Alanguilan, FSC, Mike Carey and Jon Foster, as well as
newer creators like Drewscape, ken foo, Kuanth and Leong Wan Kok.
Graphic Storytelling, Nanyang Technological Univerity, 2008‐present
Currently teaching a course in Graphic Storytelling at NTU School of Arts, Design and Media
as a special elective.
Workshop : From Page to Panels 2007
Conducted a workshop on how to adapt a comic book script to comic book form, as part of
Animation Nation 2007.
Singapore Writers Festival, 2007
Helped organise and participated in the panel “In Conversations With: Local Superheroes!”
at the SWF, a discussion of the future of local comics with guests Kurt Busiek and Gail
Simone.
