One might say that Katja is one of those old fashioned artists (or painters) who believes in the power of tis medium while seeking for "pure beauty" or "truth". In other words: Katja is one of those who despise pictorial storytelling, or moralizing. From this point of view, her practice is rather introverted, always questioning the very nature of a painting.
Her latest works explores the vitality of the relationship between a painting and its beholder. The subject of these paintings can be best understood within the question: "what happens when we look at a painting?"
