by Goethe-Institut Singapur
Location: Goethe-Institut Singapore Art Gallery
Date: 16 Apr - 25 Apr 2009

"Tradigital Mythmaking" explores Asian myths, folklore and fairy-tales with the intention to create local stories with global appeal. The German filmmaker and freelance Illustrator Hannes Rall was an Adjunct professor at the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart, Germany, before he came to Singapore to join the NTU’s School of Art, Design and Media as an Assistant Professor since 2005. Hannes Rall was participating in over 45 international filmfestivals and has been awarded for his Animation several times. His film "The Raven" was part of the exhibition "Animated Films from Germany", curated by the Instiute of Foreign Exchange and the Goethe-Institutes worldwide.

The exhibition "Tradigital Mythmaking" shows a selection of the best artworks from over 1000 paintings and drawings by his students from NTU. It provides a fascinating insight into the development process of animated films. This documentary is a search for the own roots and also the effort to combine the traditional with the modern to something New.
