What Happens When Nothing Happens
by Fost Gallery
Location: Southeast Asian Platform, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
Artist(s): CHUN Kai Feng
Date: 16 Jan - 19 Jan 2014

FOST Gallery presents Chun Kai Feng at Art Stage Singapore 2014. Chun is interested in mapping the day-to-day. He regularly makes works based on ordinary urban elements which exist in the background of a city. The works are made with industrial techniques and materials and cohere to a personal formal sculptural regimentation. These abstracted urban objects are composed to form a space which is charged with narrative potential.

In What Happens When Nothing Happens, Chun presents a minute snippet of the traffic environment, a ‘monumentalisation’ of commonplace objects. For Chun, existence ultimately averages out into humdrum and it is therefore in the humdrum of daily life that we locate stories about ourselves.
