fill your walls, an art gallery dedicated to promoting affordable art by emerging local artists presents “Cartographein Cerebrum” (or, how I’d like to walk around in your mind to find the things we forgot), a solo exhibition by Justin Lin.

Justin Lin studied art at the Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) under the Integrated Program and recently received a scholarship with the Ministry of Education as a Fine Arts teacher. His upcoming exhibition – “Cartographein Cerebrum” (or, how I’d like to walk around in your mind to find the things we forgot) – at fills your walls gallery is his debut exhibition.

Featuring layers of meticulously hand-engraved acrylic sheets stacked together to create an intriguing illusion of three-dimensional depth and spatial forms reminiscent of landscapes and topography. Justin’s work serves to explore and illustrate the relationship between abstract thoughts and physical places.

An upcoming artist in the local and international arts circuit, Justin has been participating in various art events since 2007 and will purse a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree in art (Sculpture) at the College of Fine Arts, Carnegie Mellon University later this year. He held an internship at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute in 2007, and has shown at various locations including the Pameran Poskad show at House, Dempsey Hill (2008), 1st Small Sculpture Show at Sculpture Square (2009), The Alfresco Art Fair at CliffordSquare (2009).

“Cartographein Cerebrum” (or, how I’d like to walk around in your mind to find the things we forgot) by Justin Lin runs from 24 June till 11 July 2010 at the fill your walls gallery, which is located at 21 Tanjong Pagar Road #04-02. The exhibition is open from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm daily except Wednesdays and Public Holidays. Admission is free. For enquiries, please call 6222 1667.

About the artist
Justin Lin (b. 1989, Singapore)
While studying arts in ACS (I), Justin displayed great potential in his craft and graduated at the top of his cohort in Higher Level Visual Arts in 2007. More significantly, Justin is an emerging artist from the first batch of students who have studied art under the Integrated Program in Singapore and Justin’s creative exploration of unusual mediums and in-depth concepts are a sure mark of great things to come for our growing community of young, local artists.
A relatively new face in the industry, Justin’s works are already part of several private and gallery collections, a further testament to the potential value and significance of this rising artist’s work.
