Dahim is a Surrealist painter born in Singapore who is known for his 'Matchstick' painting series. He studied residential and commercial design, architecture, and graphics before completing a Diploma in Fine Art (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, 1979). Dahim’s work has been collected by a number of prestigious institutions including the Singapore Art Museum, Malay Heritage Board, and Raffles Holdings.
As a child, Dahim spent much time in Indonesia, met the late Affandi and attended Batik classes in Jogjakarta. The study of Surrealism is a source of constant inspiration to Dahim and he citing the works of masters such as Dali, Magritte, and de Chirico as his influences.
