Something About Education But Not Exactly... is a brand new work commissoned for the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2011. It contemplates the meaning and value of education projected as stereotype in a highly capitalistic mass society. It allows the confrontation of mainstream and marginal values in the light of violence-free humour. The installation will feature images and texts produced to contemplate the essence of learning and the idea of communication through different senses and sign systems. The work features a pseudo-educational video entitled Signs made in 2008 that explores the idea of non-mainstream communication and the meaning of human reality overloaded by mass media – to be screened in a classroom setting for the installation.
