Wee Beng Chong, NAFA alumni and Singaporean artist who is considered a doyen in Western and Chinese art, is Singapore's first Cultural Medallion recipient. Known for his unconventional and interpretive adaptations in contemporary practice, Wee will showcase his recent works in Chinese calligraphy and ink paintings, which he terms as "creative calligraphy". His renderings of the age-old traditions of "seal-script" (also known as jinnee) propose a fresh look at these glyphic characters, engaging the audience to make connection with both the metaphorical and the visual.
