catmaSutra: MY QUIRKY VALENTINE ~ A Date with the Cat
by Societe Generale Gallery at Alliance Française de Singapour
Location: Societe Generale Private Banking Gallery
Artist(s): Paul KOH
Date: 3 Feb - 10 Feb 2010

“CatmaSutra” is a painting celebration of the world’s most popular pet!

Singaporean artist and designer, Paul Koh, has built up a collection of “CatmaSutra” paintings inspired by his association, friendship and understanding of cats since 2004. Based on the real-life personalities, eccentricities and adventures of his two pet cats, Halo and Angel, Paul has captured the affectionate inquisitiveness and nonchalant independence typical of cats.

The term “CatmaSutra” was coined simply because it is a collection of paintings that revolves around the different attitudes and situations of the cat. The cat is always itself, wholeheartedly open to whatever occurs, and this is the essence of Paul’s paintings. In each painting, Paul draws us into a realm where the playful and good-natured juxtapose with the tongue-in-cheek and unexpected....all distilled on canvas to create a “CatmaSutra Cat”, typified by its trademark “eyes-wide-shut” and “ear-to-ear grin”.

Paul’s paintings are bold and vibrant with each of them telling a happy story. Synthesizing elements from his keen observations on life and experiences, combined with his personal brand of positive karmic energy and acceptance of life’s imperfections.

It is a quirky date with the cat - an invitation to align our reality to a simplicity that is curious, innocent and playful.

Blue Lotus fine art is proud to announce its collaboration with Paul Koh, and will be displaying a series of his “CatmaSutra” paintings from 3rd to 10th February 2010. This solo exhibition will present a selection of 25 to 30 recent paintings. There will also be “CatmaSutra” art collectibles like tote bags, keepsake boxes and tile coasters for sale during the exhibition. Paul Koh will be available for interview sessions from 15th December 2009 for this exhibition.
