iPRECIATION presents the recent works of the most talented artist from Beijing, China - Ye Jian Qing
Born in Zhejiang Province in 1972, Ye Jian Qing's youth belies the powerfully moving aesthetic of his work. Unlike many contemporary Chinese artists, Ye Jian Qing does not focus on the political or provocative. Subtle, yet intelligent, and deeply contemplative, Ye draws on the refined approach of traditional Chinese painting, and fuses it with modern sensibilities to display a strong and individualistic creative identity. His oil on canvas depictions of land and cityscapes are unique in both concept and perspective, expressed in an almost dream-like manner to trigger emotional and philosophical responses in his viewers. Through reflecting on the photographic experience, Ye pursues aesthetic experience that are characteristically Chinese, in addition to personal sentiments, contrariant to the coldness and human opperssion of our industrial civilization.
Ye Jian Qing obtained his PhD in the prestigious Beijing Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in 2007. Currently teaching in CAFA,he is an accomplished full time artist with a record of four sold-out exhibitions, having won acclaim from critics and collectors alike. Ye's work has been exhibited at CAFA, the National Art Gallery of China in Beijing, and at the First Beijing Biennale in 2005.
