International Artist Collective
Based in New York.
As pioneers of global street art movement, Faile was collectively founded in 1999 by Patrick McNeil from Canada, Patrick Miller from the USA.
Collaboration has been the core of their artistic belief. Inspired by the urban environment, their art is the result of synchronizing disparate visual sources which may include the collective works of other artists from various cultural fields.
Faile’s recent works such as Get Aquainted II, Tear 2, F Head and New York Box series (all in 2007) reveal the ongoing influence of fathers of Pop, like Robert Rauschenberg and Roy Lichtenstein in particular. In addition, the juxtaposition of images of stenciled cartoon characters, iconic figures and graffiti echoes the post war French Nouveau Réalism.
In 2006, Faile participated in Spank the Monkey, the first major international exhibition of contemporary urban art at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Newcastle, UK and collaborated with David Ellis and Swoon for the touring group show at the New Image Art Gallery, LA, USA and the Museum Hetdomein in Sittard, Netherland in March, 2007.
Since 2004 various cultural industries have commissioned Faile. To name a few, the t-shirt production for Paper Denim and Cloth and mural project for the Tiger Translate event at the Shanghai Sculpture Space.
