Throughout the history of photography, one process has always improved, and replaced, another. From Talbots salted paper, to the latest Piezographic technology, each process has been defined by its own collection of charms, syntax, frustrations, and foibles. As our beloved wet lab process gets in line to meet its inevitable successor, be assured that it will not disappear but simply be adopted, as a personal alternative process of choice, by those artists who can think of no better way to express their vision.
A beautiful and thought-provoking exhibition on historical photographic processes and their use by a growing contingent of contemporary photographers, The Uncommon Lives of Common Objects showcases works by some of Singapore's young photography talents.
Participating photographers: Ang Song Nian, Eugene Ong, Gwee Yin Fei, Izziyana bte Suhaimi,Karolina Katarzyna Nowosielska, Trond Runar Solevaag, Lawrence Chiam, Timothy Julian Nga, Sit Weng San, Serena Teo, Vijay Ramani
About 2902 Gallery @ OldSchool
Based within a design & arts cluster called OldSchool, 2902 Gallery is dedicated to promote the appreciation of art photography.
hristened after its opening date, the Gallery’s name speaks of a rare moment (each leap year), frozen, or more aptly, captured in time by a photograph.
As the largest photography art gallery in Southeast Asia, it aims to be the nexus and catalyst of discussion, thought and critique on art photography in the region by curating shows of both local and over sea artists. Besides being an exhibition platform, 2902 Gallery actively organise talks, seminars and workshops for both photographers and the general public to better appreciate art photography.
Since its inception in 2008, the 2902 Gallery has hosted close to 30 exhibitions with the participation of more than 50 photographers.
2902 is also the festival office and the main venue for the Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF).
