Zen Teh's first solo exhibition in Singapore presents an artistic practice invested in a post-humanist relationship between Man and nature, in which Man is not the dominant partner. Firmly rooted in the anthropocene (our current geological age in which human activity has been the main influence on climate and the environment), Teh's work is based on a process of collaging photographs of marginalized forests from nature reserves in city centers or forests at the edges of developments. Harking to primordial landscapes, Teh's images present aestheticized but seemingly natural environments. As beautiful images, they represent our desire for the natural landscape in a world increasingly defined by the hyper-consumption of our natural resources.
